Prelims are over!

Congrats gr.12’s the end is in sight.

In the next couple of weeks you will first rest, then start worrying about your marks, those doing home schooling will start checking your profiles to see if marks are out, and you might even start studying or planning when to start studying for finals.

Embrace the rest. You have been studying, craming, stressing, and probably not sleeping as much as you should have. Your body might still be in a hightened stress response with all those stress hormones hanging around. Get your body moving as much as you can, relax, and sleep. Get back to normal before the finals start.

How to handle the stress: remember that it is just prelim. The prelims count as part of the 25% year mark along with your tasks, tests and June exams. The PATs count another 25%, if you have them, and the final 50% or 75%.

It’s not over till the fat lady sings (Do you know the expression? No? Look it up!). Use the prelims as a learning experience by looking at your mistakes and analysing why you made the mistakes. Make a study schedule that is realistic and not leaving eveything for the last minute. Ask for help to plan and stick to your schedule. Find something to help releave the stess of finals so that you don’t burn out before the end.

All the best!
