Just for Fun

We explore our creativity, boost our self-esteem, and enjoy ourselves through art and drama each week. We don’t grade or criticize anyone’s work, instead, we aim to have fun with different themes every week and even dress up accordingly. We also celebrate the end of each term with a party or an educational outing.

Grades 10-12

Afrikaans and English Teaching

We focus on writing essays, learning new words, reading books, and discussing literature. We use the assigned books to enrich our vocabulary, debate ideas, and write essays (especially for those who are learning a second language). Learners need to read their books at home. Otherwise, they will fall behind in the whole language course. We have at least 3-4 language lessons per week and assign daily work for reinforcement.

Maths and Maths Lit

Learners will have daily classes either with a tutor, or for completing assigned work. They will also do exercises, past papers, and tasks during the week to practice what they learnt. A teacher/tutor will be ready to help them with any questions. Learners should spend at least an hour on Maths every day.

Science Subjects

Learners will attend 2-3 sessions per week, each lasting 1-2 hours. The sessions will be either grade-specific or grade-mixed, depending on the syllabus content. Learners will also have to do daily work.

Other Subjects

We cover the term’s work in 2-3 hour workshops. The number of workshops per term varies by subject. Learners from Grades 10-12 may join the same workshops if the work is similar. The workshops will involve teaching and learning by doing projects. Learners also have to do other work during the week.

Homework

Learners receive homework on a daily basis. We recommend that learners get into a routine of doing their homework at the same time every day to improve their productivity. If learners do not complete their homework, we inform their parent or guardian.

Textbooks

Textbooks can be ordered from Impaq upon registration, however, we have a library of secondhand textbooks that are available to learners. Please enquire as to availability. Cambrilearn learners can purchase new or used books or utilise what we have available.
